We have all been the recipient of direct mail campaigns. What makes it interesting is, what do you remember as direct mail that you remember. If your company places some importance of the marketing mix in the direct mail it sends then here are a few useful tips to help you make an informed decision about what will work better for your business.

What are you selling and who are you selling to?

Again, the importance of targeted marketing and its design play a very relevant part in how successful a piece of direct mail is.
We have all seen the raft of insurance letters making comparisons of figures. Even council newsletters form a part of direct mail these days. Its not just about selling, it is also about the successful communication of information.

How creative do you want to get?

If a piece of direct mail is useful, it will generally be kept. Try and market your service or product with a direct relation to the customer. For example, a successful campaign may be informing clients of a water utility company through a letter which can only be read when placed under a running tap.

Keep it simple.

Over complicate your direct mail campaign and you will lose the attention of what may be a potential customer.

Keep in mind postal regulations.

Size and weight have a bearing on overall cost with Australia Post, so keep in mind that your direct mail can be significantly more expensive with a minor size change.
